July 4th is a celebration of everything the United States of America stands for. It’s a time to gather with friends and family and reflect on the freedom our forefathers fought for that we enjoy today.
With all the fun of fireworks, family and fresh food you may not think of the American justice system this weekend. But when considering the accomplishments of our great nation, it’s impossible to ignore the legal system that our founding fathers created to protect the liberty and justice for us all.
The Bill of Rights lays out a comprehensive and groundbreaking series of inalienable rights for all citizens. The first ten amendments to the Constitution spell out the legal protections that have guided our justice system for centuries.
Lawyers and judges continue to follow these guidelines. They were written by men generations ago but are just as relevant today: the right to a fair trial by an impartial jury; the right to not self-incriminate one’s self; the right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures; the right to be innocent until proven guilty. These rights are the foundations of the United States justice system.
At Bumgardner Law Offices, we want to take a moment to thank all the brave men and women who have defended our freedom. Their sacrifices make our work possible.
So, this Fourth of July enjoy the freedom that our country’s Bill of Rights has provided for all of her citizens. However, if you do end up injured through no fault of your own, find your legal rights infringed upon, or just need legal counsel of any kind – feel free to contact the law offices of Thomas Bumgardner. Our friendly and courteous staff can guide you through the legal process in the honorable way our forefathers intended.
Stay safe, have fun and have a happy Fourth of July, Charlotte!
